While you wait...

As you wait to be assigned a Home Care package, this is a great time to learn more about how to maximise your package options and find the right care provider.

 

Here, you’ll find more information about how our Care Management fee model works and find some useful tools to help you shop.

Timing

Accessing a home care package through My Aged Care can take time. Once you've received your 'Approval' letter, your funds will take 6-12 months - or more to be assigned.

Tips

  •  Don't wait until you or your loved one needs care. Start the process now.

Waiting Step 1 - Get Income Tested

If you haven’t already been Income Tested, now is the time! For more information visit myagedcare.gov.au/income-assessment-home-care-packages.

Waiting Step 2 - How to get immediate assistance

If you’re in need of immediate relief to help around your home, you can opt to pay out-of-pocket for services to get started sooner. Call us on 1800 725 836 (option 1)  if you’d like to talk about our Private Home Care Services options.

Waiting Step 3 - Prepare for your Home Care Package

Selecting the right care provider for you: While you wait for your Home Care Package to be funded, it's also a good time to shop around and compare a selection of home care providers, their services, expertise, fees and charges.โ€‹

How to apply: Assessment: Start by contacting My Aged Care for a free assessment. This will help determine your parents' needs and eligibility for government-funded support. Finding a provider: Once approved, you can find a registered provider through My Aged Care's "Find a Provider" tool or by calling their contact center.
